The Women in Mechanized Agriculture (WIMA) project is transforming agriculture by empowering women farmers with affordable access to modern mechanization services. In partnership with Tractrac Mechanization Services Limited, the project focuses on training women mechanization service providers (MSPs) and equipping them with three-wheeled tractors and mechanized farming tools to boost productivity and reduce manual labor.
Operating across multiple states in Nigeria, WIMA enables smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth, to access mechanized ploughing, harrowing, and ridging services, leading to higher yields, reduced farming costs, and increased efficiency. The initiative also promotes financial inclusion, offering starter kit grants and facilitating access to equipment financing.
Through strategic partnerships and technology-driven solutions, WIMA is addressing key challenges in agriculture, including land preparation delays, post-harvest losses, and lack of access to modern tools, ensuring that more farmers can cultivate land faster, cheaper, and more effectively.
